How To Reach Magpie Camp Chopta

Chopta  Magpie Camp is at a distance of 440 km from Delhi and 190 km from Rishikesh. There are various modes of transportations available for Magpie Camp Chopta.

  • By Road -:Magpie Camp Chopta  is well connected by motorable roads with major cities of India. There is no bus service directly available for Chopta from Delhi or Rishikesh or from any station of Uttarakhand and you need to change your bus from Rudraprayag or Kund (One bus service from Delhi ISBT Maharana Pratap and it start at 9Pm from here to Guptkashi and reached at 9.30 am at Kund and it is just 35 Km before Chopta & 7 Km before Ukhimath) to Ukhimath. And there is again no Share taxis & bus service from Ukhimath to Chopta (A bus at 7.30 in the morning but is not regular one). It is advisable, to reach Chopta first you have to take the bus for Rishikesh/ Haridwar or Rudraprayag then change another bus or sharing taxi up to Ukhimath and after that you have to hire a local jeep for Chopta drop.
  • Chopta Magpie Camp By Train -:The nearest railway station to Chopta (Magpie Camp)is Rishikesh. Rishikesh railway station is situated 202kms before Chopta on NH58. Rishikesh is well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India. It is advisable to take trains to Haridwar not for Rishikesh because trains are available for Haridwar frequently. Chopta is well connected by motorable roads with Rishikesh. Taxis and buses are available from Rishikesh to Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Ukhimath and after that you have to hire a taxi to Chopta.

  • Chopta(Magpie Camp) By Flight -:Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport to Chopta(Magpie Camp) situated at a distance of 225kms. Jolly Grant Airport is well connected to Delhi with daily flights. Chopta is well connected by motorable roads with Jolly Grant Airport. Taxis are available from Jolly Grant Airport to Chopta.

Chopta 2 Nights camping packages cover Tungnath Temple (The Highest Shiva Temple in world) - Chandrashila Peak (4090mte Altitude) trek. It is located in Rudraprayag District of Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand State. Chandrashilla offers majestic views of Great Himalayan peaks, and the evergreen Forest and huge meadows of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary . Chandrashila trek is an easy grade trek and suitable for beginners, as well as attract to photographers and it is a specific place for devotees, who love adventure, where one can reached Shiva Temple even during snow season.

Tungnath Temple is the third Kedar out of Panch kedars & its highest Shiva Temple in the world at an elevation of 3600mt. And the Chandrashila peak is the summit of Tungnath,situated at the elevation of 4090 mts height, one can see the spectacular 180 degree view of Himalayan ranges and 360 degree of Mountain view. Chandrashilla is famous for Sunrise among the tourist.

Day 1 of Chopta trek :-

RISHIKESH /HARIDWAR – CHOPTA (THE MAGPIE JUNGLE CAMP)

The “THE MAGPIE JUNGLE CAMP” is approximately 210 Kms from Haridwar and -190 kms from Rishikesh with a travel duration of 7 to 8 hours. The road to Chopta runs along Ganga & Alaknanda Rivers before turning into the Mandakini valley in Rudraprayg .On arrival at “THE MAGPIE JUNGLE CAMP” guest are served with welcome refreshment. During Evening hours one can take a walk at Camp’s Grassland for acclimatization or near By Places for a short walk.“THE MAGPIE JUNGLE CAMP”offers all weather proof Swiss camps for Night stay at the destination.

Day 2 of Chopta trek :-

BASECAMP (THE MAGPIE JUNGLE CAMP ) -CHOPTA – TUNGNATH (3680 MTS/12070 FT) – CHANDRASILA (4090 MTS/13415 FT) – CHOPTA -BASECAMP

On day 2nd post breakfast one has to drive down to Chopta base to start trek for Tungnath and Chandrashila this complete trek is approximately 5kms to Chopta base.

Tungnath temple is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is at a trek distance of 3.5 kms which can be covered in 3hrs.The complete trek is covered with lush green meadows and one can see the entire range of snow clad Himalayas.

After reaching Tungnath one can enjoy the view of snow clad Himalayan ranges and after a little refreshment can move further for Chandrashila which is at an altitude of 4100 mts above see level and one can enjoy the 180 degree panoramic view of Himalayas.

Day 3 Chopta Trek:-

CHOPTA – RISHIKESH/HARIDWAR

After an early breakfast at “THE MAGPIE JUNGLE CAMP CHOPTA ”  drive down to Rishikesh/Haridwar.
