Tungnath – Chandrashila trek is the most easily accessible trek in high altitude of Uttarakhand Himalaya. THE LONGEST ACCESSIBLE GLACIAR IN UTTARAKHAND HIMALAYA
It is also an easy accessible moderate trek in upper Uttarakhand Himalaya. Goumukh glacier is 30 km long and 2 to 4 km wide, is the biggest glacier in uttarakhand Himaklaya and is responsible for origin of Bhagirathi River, the main tributary of Ganges. The glacier is extending in height from 4100m to 7000m surrounded by many prominent mountains of Gangotri range like Bhagirathi, Shivling, Meru-Sumeru, Chokhamba and Thalaya sagar etc.
Goumuhk glacier region has high religious importance in Hinduism because it is source of River Ganga which is worshiped as mother by Hinduism followers. Snout of the glacier appears like cow mouth since it is called Goumukh. It is very sad that the glacier reduced one km in past seventy years and still melting rapidly because of global warming.

Bhatwari to Chirbasa( 3600m) -> 80 km drive up to Gangotry (3100) and 9 km trek (ascending).
