Panwali Kantha – The Hidden trek of Uttarakhand
Panwali Kantha is among the most expansive alpine meadows in the Garhwal Himalayas, sitting at a height of 4,000 meters. Known for its flat terrain, diverse flowering herbs, and abundant wildlife, it also provides stunning views of the Gangotri region and the greater Himalayan range.
As you trek, you’ll witness breathtaking vistas of peaks like Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The best time for this adventure is in April and May when conditions are most favorable. You can also see it’s huge variety of flora. While trekking during the monsoon season is possible, and it requires added caution.

LOCATION | Panwali kantha meadow is situated in middle portion of Mandakini & Bhilangna rivers, in upper Himalayan zone of Tehri & Rudraprayag district of Uttrakhand,India. The trek start in Ghuttu village (Tehri) and ends at Triyugi Narayan (Rudraprayag) where solemn occasion of Shiv-Parvati marriage took place. |
